Bathtub Refinishing
Can you reglaze and change the color of my bathtub?
Absolutely, you are able to change the color of your bathtub with reglazing. With reglazing, the color possibilities are many. To sum it up, you are able to go from any color to just about any color. Please feel free to call for more details!
Is it guaranteed?
Yes it certainly is. As with almost every other service we offer, you are 100% guaranteed against product failure in the form of peeling or delaminating. Please ask for details by using our contact page.
How do I clean and maintain my refinished fixture?
The recommended cleaners are much the same as those that are recommended for use on a brand new porcelain or fiberglass surface. It is recommended that you clean with Dow Scrubbing bubbles or Lysol tub and tile cleaner. These strong but non-abrasive cleaners clean effectively without dulling the gloss like an abrasive cleaner.
Does a refinished bathtub look like it basically was painted?
No. Most people would have a hard time telling the difference between a new bathtub and a tub refinished by Ultimate Reglaze. The restored, smooth, glossy surface, is much easier to keep clean. Also, refinishing is very durable and should last as long as 20 years with proper care.
If my bathtub was painted before, can I still have it reglazed?
Yes. Before doing the reglazing though, the paint will need to be removed. If the hybrid coating we apply was sprayed over an inferior coating, there would be a wrinkling effect and our coating wouldn’t be able to live out its full life span.
Will I be able to stay in the house while you do your refinishing?
Yes, you are more than welcome to. The smell will disappear in a few hours.
What do I have to do to prepare my bathtub for reglazing?
We ask that you remove personal items from the bathroom and remove the shower curtain or sliding doors. It is also appreciated if you can do a cleaning of your bathtub before we arrive.
How long will you take to refinish my bathtub?
Depending on the fixture, about 2-1/2 to 3 hours. The finish needs to dry 36 hours.
Can I change the cover of my harvest gold bathtub?
Yes! We can give you practically any color you want with our refinishing system.
If I am doing a bathtub remodel, at what point should I refinish my bathtub?
Customers have opted to refinish at the beginning of the project and at the final part of their project. We are able to work with either choice you make. Frankly though, we would prefer doing the refinishing before the finish coat of paint is applied or wallcoverings are installed. Other than this, we really can work with most circumstances we are given.
How come it costs between $300 to $399 to reglaze a bathtub and I can buy one for $225?
Bathtubs in this price range are generally not of the same quality as their older counterparts.
When new bathtubs are manufactured they are produced on an assembly line. For this reason, it is possible to reduce manufacturing costs. Also, the equipment needed is always in a fixed location. Manufacturing a new porcelain tub, involves the use of a kiln where temperatures exceed 1500 degrees F. This process cannot be done in home.
To reglaze a bathtub, in the home, involves moving the reglazing equipment to the location of the installed bathtub. To deliver a high quality reglazing job, involves the utilization of much equipment, and high quality materials.
Even at $275 to $399 per bathtub, you save about 75% of replacement cost.
Consider the plumbing, the tub wall enclosure, the flooring, also the logistics of removing the bathtub from the house, the door jams may have to be removed, and even the walls in some cases.
I have a 26-year-old bathtub which has rust stains and discoloration. Is there anything you can do to improve its appearance?
There is a solution to make your bathtub look better by refinishing the original surface to take on the look and the durability of a new porcelain tub.
The process typically takes two to three hours to complete and 36 hours to dry, after which your tub will be back in use. We also now have a faster drying formula. You could be able to use your tub the next day!
